INFORMATION/INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN - Definition
Information Design is in essence designing logos or graphics with the specific intention of providing the user/viewer with an instruction or conveying some sort of information. These types of design are around us everywhere on a daily basis and are found not just in electronic formats. People are often looking at Informative and Instructional Designs without even being aware of it. Everything from a Stop Sign on the street, to a graph in a text book or even the little house shaped picture on the internet that navigates you back to your home page is an example of these types of designs. Information Designs play a huge role in web browsing where web and graphic designers are trying to give the best information and direction possible to the user whilst using as few words a possible in order to avoid cluttering the page with unnecessary text.
